This workshop is run by Graham (aka Mr Maybug) in his workshop. It is ideal for those who are interested in woodturning, and want to give it a try. The day is relaxed and fun, but an eye is kept on your safety at all times. By the end of the day you will be able to turn a few simple shapes and take home a honey dipper and a bowl.

The day will start of with an introduction to the lathe and tools that we will be using, and a  full health and safety briefing. We then move onto making some practice cuts with the tools to get you in the swing of how to safely use the equipment.

Later in the morning you will make a honey dipper, sand and finish it to take home.

After lunch we move onto making a bowl from a rough blank, shaping the outside and hollowing out the inside, sanding and finishing it to make an object you will be proud to display at home

NOTES:

Please wear clothes that you are happy to get wood shavings and sawdust onto.

Please wear a short sleeved top, or if you have sleeves make sure that they are tight fitting so they cannot get caught by the spinning wood. For the same reason do not wear hanging jewellery (eg necklaces) and tie back loose hair..

Closed toe shoes are ESSENTIAL; I cannot allow you in the workshop with open toe shoes / sandals etc.

Tea / coffee is included, but please bring your own packed lunch.

Use of all equipment / PPE and materials are included.

Full PPE is supplied where needed.
