Terms and Conditions

Maybug Studio will always work hard to provide you, our customer, with our best possible service. As Sharon is the designer and creator of our stained glass, our quality is not dependant on others, and so you can be assured of our best attention at all times.

Stained glass is, by its nature, flawed. Bubbles and imperfections are always present. The thickness of the glass will vary and may not be uniform across a single piece of glass. A finished panel will not always be perfectly square, or round etc. This is because our glass is cut by hand, and the final piece is assembled and soldered by hand. Every effort is made to produce a finished panel to the dimensions provided; if it is a window panel that is fitting within an existing opening then we will ensure that the overall dimensions fall within that opening size. It is these irregularities that give the piece its character and uniqueness and are not considered to be faults.

If a piece of glass is chipped or cracked, that is an unacceptable imperfection, and such a piece of glass will never make it into one of our panels.

Ordering and Delivery

Please look at our website shop for details of items for sale. Our main products are made to order, those available from stock are clearly indicated. If required, stock items can be made with a variation in size/ colours etc to your requirements.

With all commissions and variations to stock items we will not commence making it until you have approved the design / colours etc.

Once you have approved the design full payment will be taken on placing the order. We will then start making the piece and aim to have it ready for despatch within 2 weeks. You will be advised when we have arranged delivery with an estimate of when you could expect delivery; although the actual time will be out of our direct control. If we are personally delivering it (within 50 miles of Bodmin) then we can be specific about days /times.

Cost and Payment

Costs will vary depending on size, complexity and type of glass used in the design. Our galleries will give a rough guide to the expected costs.

Once a final design is agreed for a commission piece we can advise of the cost. Estimates can be given at an earlier stage, but they are subject to change (up or down) depending on the final design. Full payment through the secure website payment system is required. We take all types of credit / debit card.

Post and Packing

On the majority of pieces for delivery in mainland UK, P&P is included in the price. For larger pieces a charge may be made, you will be advised of this before the order is accepted.

Further Information

As detailed above all dimensions are approximate due to the nature of the materials used. If dimensions are critical (ie fitting the panel within an opening) please advise us of this before work starts. If you do not advise us of this, then we can accept no responsibility for the panel not fitting.

Lead naturally darkens and oxidises over time. We use polish on the lead to darken it and to seal the surface. If it becomes scratched in use, you can repolish it using stove polish.

Copper foil is covered in solder, and then a chemical patina is added.

Art glass is irregular and may contain bubbles and surface marks, this is normal and does not indicate a defect in the glass.

If we are reproducing an item you have seen in the galleries and we need to use a different batch of glass, the colour may vary in subtle ways, as the manufacturers cannot produce 100% exactly the same from one batch to another. If there is a large variation, we will contact you to advise you of this and to gain your approval.

Returns

In the unlikely event that you have a problem with one our products, please contact us immediately. We are sure that any problems can be easily resolved. If, however, for a non commissioned piece you have the right to return it to us within 14 days in the original packing and at your own expense. We will fully refund the piece once it is returned safely to us.

All commissioned pieces are not refundable.
